Book Review - Dead Sexy Dragon, by Lolita Lopez

The last thing dragon shifter Stig Wyvern needs is his dead friend’s kid sister showing up on his doorstep. He’s just minutes away from entering a mating phase. Sharing his isolated house with the young woman he’s desperately lusted after for quite some time is a recipe for disaster.

But Cora Cardenas has nowhere else to go. She’s in deep trouble with some really nasty people and Stig is the only one who can protect her. That he’s deliciously sexy and makes her tingle with the simplest of smiles is just a bonus.

Cora quickly realizes Stig is hiding something from her. To make matters worse, she’s plagued with breathtakingly naughty dreams starring a shadowed lover who bears a startling resemblance to her host. And just what the hell is going on down in the basement at night?

Stig needs to get Cora out of his house but his inner beast has other ideas. He’s found his mate and she’s not going anywhere...

This is my level of impressed.

It was a bit disappointing right off the bat, when you can see that this can be a pretty cool story and instead of a good plot and character development you get 'cock' and 'pussy' before you even get to know your characters well.  Ok, these guys had a history of attraction, but I just met them both and need some lead up to this hot romance... and a good storyline too for God's sakes! Otherwise all you are giving me is some ok written porn to keep me warm before I go to sleep.

My heart isn't skipping any beats though because poorly developed characters, with a weak storyline are just cardboard cut outs walking in a world built of shadows. There is no substance, no passion, no romance! They don't form in my head; their relationship or situations don't even seem to have any substance.  Not to mention, this heroine took finding out that this guy is a shapeshifter (and a dragon no less) like she just found out that he likes onion and peanut butter sandwiches! (Actually, she probably would have had a stronger reaction to finding out he likes onion and peanut butter sandwiches than the one she had when she saw him full of scales, sporting a tail and a snout.) Sorry, I probably would have been trying to pick out the largest knife in his kitchen or getting the F out of that house if I saw something like that in the basement.

Sex scenes were high on the heat scale, but everything else was lukewarm at best. I was actually hoping for a romance that expressed some true feeling and connection with a dash of the supernatural and the fantastical. There was potential here for a great plot and it is disappointing that it was completely overlooked.

This was a weak

This novella felt rushed and most of the conflict completely glazed over. Storyline was a bust. Characters were meh. Romance was intended, but most of the page time on this one was spent on sex. Not a bad thing if that is what you are looking for, but this reader also wanted a good story.

  1. Thanks for sharing the truthful review. Sounds like a porn movie in words.
