Guest Blogger Erin with The Fault in Our Stars

It has been an embarrassingly long time since I have finished a book and had time to write a review about it.  With that being said I have sadly stepped down as a blogger at Bookluvrs Haven.  I couldn’t totally give up my blog baby, so I will now be a guest blogger.  So you will still hear from me, just not as often as I would like.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

I was at Target in the baby department picking up some diapers and other odds and ends when a book rack caught my eye.  Luckily my son was fast asleep in the stroller because I looked at every book about 5 times trying to decide which one to get.  (I hate having to chose only one!!!)  It took me about 45 minutes  but I decided on The Fault in Our Stars.

I made the right decision!!!  This book is great.  So great in fact that I refuse to see the movie.  I don't want it to be ruined.

It brought a whole new perspective on love.  With one foot in the grave Hazel finds her person.  She finds the one person who she can be herself with.  The one person who doesn't pity her.  The one person who makes life worth living.  I fell in love with both Hazel and Augustus from the beginning.  The characters had such depth that I felt as if I knew them.

Although this book is about teenage cancer patients - and you just know where it is going - it was refreshing that I didn't shed a tear until 3/4 of the way through the book.  It was packed full of emotions.  I laughed, I was angry...and yes I even did the ugly cry.

This book would have gotten 5 big fat stars.  There was one thing about this book that I found a bit boring.  When Van Houten is brought into the main story f I found myself skimming through.  I found it boring and slightly unnecessary.  Because of this I had to give this book 4 stars!  I urge you to read it.  It's a great quick read that you certainly wont regret!
